Panorama - April Fool's Day Hoax - Spaghetti Harvest - 1st April 1957

On April Fool's day 1957 the BBC programme Panorama aired a hoax to the public about a family in Switzerland who harvested spaghetti from spaghetti trees. Thousands of people believed it as they did not know spaghetti was made from pasta. Also it was more credible as the famous broadcaster Richard Dimbleby did the voiceover for the stunt. Hundreds of people rang the BBC the next day wanting to know where they could get their own Spaghetti Trees and it is now regarded as one of the best April Fool's pranks ever perpetrated on the public ever.
